Boyle's Law Improved

The Boyle's Law Improved apparatus comprises a reservoir with a Bourdon gauge connected to a vertical glass tube, and measures pressures of up to 3.5x atmospheric pressure.
Water is pumped into the tube and the pressure and volume of air are measured at regular intervals, showing the inverse relationship between pressure and volume at constant temperature. Because the tube has a uniform cross-section, the volume of air is proportional to the length of the air column, which is read from the graduations. Air does not escape as the pressure rises until the needle valve is opened.
