The Heat Radiation Plate is a 175 x 175 x 1mm steel plate with one plain metal side and one side painted black, mounted on a nickel plated shaft with a wooden handle. It is used to show the importance of surface properties for heat radiation.
The plate is used to demonstrate the importance of surface properties for heat radiation. It is first heated on the plain side, and the temperatures of the two sides are then compared. With one face plain metal and the other black, the comparison shows the effect of the surface finish.
