The Neon Discharge Tube for Electrostatics is a large neon-filled gas discharge tube for demonstrating electric charge and polarity. It is 100 mm long and 13 mm in diameter, with an ignition voltage of 90 V.
This tube is used to show the presence of electric charge and to identify its polarity. Its two electrodes are clearly separated, and an orange glow indicates negative polarity. A potential of 90 V is enough to ignite the tube.
